Athletes' Commission Election

Short Bio

I grew up in Toronto, ON ski racing at the Craigleith Ski Club. I was a member of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team for 10 years, competing for Team Canada at two Olympic Games. My racing career ended somewhat abruptly following an injury to my knee in 2018. I gave everything I had to return to snow for the 2019 season but ultimately, I was unable to return. I retired that summer, and spent one year acquiring a Sport’s Marketing degree. I now have a new role with Zimmer Biomet as a Junior Sales Associate for Orthopedic implants and equipment.

Written Statement

It has been three years since I retired from skiing and I still have a deep passion for sport. Having been an athlete for 10 years, going through every moment from qualifying for the team, participating in two Winter Games, then finally retiring, I have a great depth of knowledge and experience that if elected, I would bring as a member of the Athlete’s Commission. I’d relish the opportunity to enhance the athlete experience for current and future Olympians.

In many ways, I was prepared for “life after sport”, but the most challenging times in my life have been the years following retirement. The Game Plan program was an immeasurable help throughout the transition; from building my first resume and understanding my education options, to working with mental coaches to support my pursuit of happiness and success after sport. If elected as a member of the COC Athlete’s Commission, it will be my mission to bring more awareness to the resources that are available to athletes, and educate others on the benefits of the program.

Beyond my experience as an athlete, my education in marketing and my current work in sales, coupled with my natural ability to collaborate and communicate with others, would enable me to help bring to life the Commissions’ mission to advocate and represent the voices of athletes. I believe in a commission that bridges the gap between NSO’s and athletes, finding opportunities to positively impact the lives of our Canadian Olympians, and fuel their future success.
