Athletes' Commission Election

Short Bio

Ladies and gentlemen,

I have been a member of Canada’s Speed Skating National Team for the last eight years. Over the course of this time, I’ve had the chance to get to know athletes at various levels, all who share the common goal of improving and becoming the best in the world. I want to have a positive impact on a wider scale and ensure athletes are working in a healthy, inclusive environment. I love working with a team, I would love learning more about the systems around us. I want to really dive head first into this project!

Written Statement

When I take on a new project, I like to study the environment in which I find myself, understand the elements that influence it and, after a while, establish a plan of attack. If I were offered a seat at the table to share with the athletes nominated to the committee, I would take into consideration what has been done over the last few years. Getting involved would allow me to use my knowledge and skills to contribute to the team and to help successfully fulfill the commission’s mandate. I like to believe that the systems in place are founded on the right values, and my role would be to learn more about those values. Being the voice of these athletes also means understanding the systems around them, getting to know the services at their disposal and understanding the realities of each one. All this, with the goal of working directly with the different areas, improving the relationships between the athletes, COC, Sport Canada and other groups.

I hope you have all you need, and I look forward to finding out if I will be able to contribute to this team for the good of us all!
